Hi all,
I need some information about wireless servers. The effective throughput of a 802.11g server is about 20Mbps. It takes roughly 1.5Mbps of bandwidth to stream CD quality music. Does this mean that a 11g server can stream to 12 recipients at the same time (12*1.5Mbps = 18Mbps) leaving 2Mbps as backup?
Does this make sense or am I missing something important?
If ur server has 20mbps, and u want to stream music to more then one pc, use the following equation:
'bandwidth / speed = max optiumal number of pc'
with 20mbps i would guess there would be around 80mbs of bandwidth (just a guess)
that means u can have 4 computers using the server at once, but if you only require 1.5mbps, you should be able to have up to 30+ computers on the network. But keep in mind that a standard network connection is some where between 10mbps and 1000mps, so 1.5mbps is insanely low.
